Durham Art Car Parade
We are proud to announce the Triangle's first annual art car event: the Durham Fourth of July Art Car Parade, July 4, 2005. Sponsored by Durham Central Park. Bring your art car!
Youth projects: An art car is a great way for art and/or shop classes to learn about recycling, create art, build technical skills, and have fun. If you are a teacher interested in creating a youth art car for the parade, contact us for more information on how to get started.
Chicks Rock Build-An-Art-Car
As a benefit for the Ms. Films Festival, Chicks Rock hosts a DIY art car workshop led by Sarah Ovenall, creator of local art car Undersea Mah Jongg. Participants will create an art car and then celebrate their creation with a night-time glow cruise. You can learn how to make an art car! If you already have one, bring it to the cruise!
Date: October 2004, exact day to be determined. Contact Chicks Rock for more information.
What is an Art Car?
An Art Car Is... a vehicle that has been decorated, embellished, or modified by painting, gluing, welding or other decorative techniques. It can be temporary or permanent.
An Art Car Is... a way to express yourself, thumb your nose at car culture, have fun with your commute, and make people smile every day.
An Art Car Is... whatever you want it to be!
Car companies tell us that the car we drive expresses who we are. They're right, if it's an art car!
